Fiddly Friday Night With Friends

I had a really great time last night (and a bit of the afternoon too) preparing applique pieces for my  In My Garden   block of the month......

Working on Block 2 here.  Its got pear trees..... dragonflies.... butterflies and a bunch of really cute snails. Unlike the real snails I find in the garden I won't be flexing my throwing arm and hurling them half way across the neighbouring field.   Before you say it.... I know they'll just come back coz their home is here with us but I live in hope they'll find some greener grass and decide to relocate.

I had loads of lovely fiddly bit's to cut out and play with (and occasionally cuss at).  I'm using Ricky Tims Stable Stuff and a fabric glue pen.   The stable stuff is designed to be left inside the quilt... seemingly it softens to fine poly fibres when the quilt is washed.  I'm more than a bit nervous I can tell you.   There are so many tiny applique pieces in this project I'm going to be terrified to wash it for fear they'll all fray and fall off!   Oh me of little faith.    Maybe I can learn to live with a 'stiff' quilt..... hummmm.

Just look... I've numbered every little pear to indicate the tree they belong on and their place on it.   A bit too anal... even for me....  d'ya think?

Completed prep on these two mini blocks from Block 1 too.   That block is set aside all ready for stitching now.

Can you believe it's almost a year since I made a resolution to get to grips with this and every other BOM I have secreted here.   Well... this is as far as I've got!   I know it's embarrassing isn't it.    Reckon  I'll be carrying that resolution forward for another year.

Now... Mum wanted to say 'Hi'......

she joined in the Friday Night fun with her knitting.  Another completed cardigan for the Preemie Unit and another in the works.....

That's my 6" ruler on the cardigan and the little hat would fit a tennis ball.... so cute.  Hard to imagine a baby so tiny.

I'd say we both had a successful FNWF.

All that and a batch of Marmalade Buns too....

I'd say 1 to be taken 3 times a day sounds about right.....

OK... that's all for now.     Maybe the 'prep' bug will bite me again tonight.... makes a change from the darned midge that is biting me to bits right now.   I'm sitting here armed with a spray can of fly killer ready to commit insecticide at a moments notice.

Hope you all had as good a time at FNWF as we did......

See ya soon.... I mean that.
Have a brilliant what's left of your weekend...

Hugs
Josie

I know what you mean about In My Garden, I don't think I'll ev wash mine in case some of those small pieces just fall off. Still, it's a beautiful quilt. Your mum's a clever girl, that's a beautiful set for a special little arrival. Now time to stitch all those little pieces.

Good Morning Josie,
I've just found your wonderful blog. Your clips with the cats have made my husband and I laugh as we too have two cats. I love your happy Mum - can I share her? Your blog is so inspirational, I will add it to my side bar of my blog so that I can follow your every move as you've certainly cheered me and tempted me with several projects already, your bag lesson is a must as it looks such fun. I'm sure my stitchy friends would enjoy one of those bags for next year. Happy stitching, Elizabeth

Hi Mum (waving) :o) Don't be stressing to much over that BOM..... I have it here too and I think you are up to where I'm at. I'm scared of the tiny parts and if I ever get back to it, it is NEVER being washed for fear of it fraying and falling apart! hugs

Don't skip any doses of those cakes Josie -it could be bad for your health!!
Good luck with all the fiddly bits of applique - it will all look totally fab when it's done...
Lovely knitting from your Mum, too, good on her.
Hope your health has stabilised a bit now Josie, so you can enjoy life instead of just going through the motions x

The marmalade buns look delicious! All that prep work...you got a lot done - looking forward to seeing the block. Hi to Mum and the little sweater is beautiful.

That's a great start Josie! Have never made or had marmalade buns. I'm sure my Mum would love then. I'll have to ask her if she had them as a youngster - she's a Lancashire lass, and still knitting up a storm, just like your lovely Mum.

Hello Miss Josie and your gorgeous Mum!! You had a super productive Friday night, it's just taken me a while to get here to visit... hope the kettle is on and there's some marmalade buns left for me...
Your BOM efforts will be rewarded, you will get there, what do they say about good things taking time?

Happy 60th, hope the big day went well(I think it has been already?)

Love and Christmas wishes to you, Mac, and Mum.... Nicky xx
